DIY: Rustic Fall Vase

Earlier this week, I shared some of my fall decorations and advice for pumpkin preservation. Today's focus is not on the pumpkins, but it is on one part of my little arrangement: the accent vase in the background.

This is what the vase originally looked like. It doesn't exactly fit any room/style in our house right now, but it is made really well, and it's a great size as an accent piece. So I got out the chalk paint and went to work for a little bit of a make-over.
I started with the chalk paint and wet-cloth wipe technique. I've used this before, but if you missed it and would like to know more specifics about these products and this technique, you can visit the post DIY: Step-by-Step Pallet Tray Tutorial.
After the wet-cloth wipe, I applied the coat of wax, which adds a subtle-but-effective hint of coloring.
A little bit of straw stalk made this a perfect accent piece for my fall decor!
