On the Menu: Tasty Peanut Butter Treats

Today, I am sharing one of my favorite treats to make anytime, but especially during the holidays. At this time of year, there are so many occasions that call for food preparation, and these are quick, simple, but oh-so-tasty treats that I frequently prepare for holiday gatherings.
Everything about these little treats is simple, starting with the ingredients list. You only need a few items to make these candies!

Ritz crackers
Peanut butter
Vanilla Bark Coating
Sprinkles (or other sugar toping)
Obviously, my ingredients list lacks portion specifications; as you follow the instructions, you will see that the portions simply depend upon how much you want to make. I usually start with one package of vanilla bark coating, and I make as many of candies I can with that package. Typically, one package will make a batch of approximately 35 of these treats.

Prepare peanut butter and crackers!

Melt vanilla bark coating as directed on the package. Most often, the microwave instructions require that you heat the entire package for 90 seconds, stir well, and then continue heating and stirring at 15-second intervals until the coating reaches a smooth, liquid consistency.

Now, simply dip the peanut butter crackers into the coating. To make this really easy on yourself (and to cut back on the mess), use kitchen serving tongs to dip the crackers.
Place the coated crackers onto wax paper.
Before the bark coating hardens, decorate the crackers with sprinkles or other sugar topping.
Allow the bark coating to completely harden before transferring these treats onto a serving tray or container. This usually takes no more than 15-20 minutes, and if you are in a hurry, you can even stick them in the refrigerator to speed up the process a bit.

These make terrific holiday favors as well if you just need a little something to give. Simply place a couple of finished treats in a decorative baking cup and wrap in a clear plastic gift bag!
