Shapes and the Trapezoid Dawg

We have been talking about shapes in math lately, and I thought I would pass along a little favorite friend of ours: the "trapezoid dawg." This video is narrated by second grade students, so some of the terms are a little over my first graders' heads. Nevertheless, what they do understand is the way shapes are brought to life in this little demonstration.

We even took time to create our own "trapezoid dawgs" and shape scenes. They really embraced this little activity. Here are some of our "trapezoid dawg" art samples.

The "Trapezoid Dawg" video is available on both YouTube and TeacherTube, so hopefully you will easily be able to access it at your school if you choose to share it with your students.
